Memory
This site stands as a memorial to Dr. Betty Guiles Sturtevant. It is intended as a place for her friends, colleagues, family, and loved ones can come to share images and stories, learn more about Betty’s life and work, remember her well, and honor her legacy.

Betty touched the lives of thousands of people around the world. She touched both those who knew her personally, and through the work that she did promoting literacy education–at George Mason University, across the United States, and around the world.
One of the problems at the core of life is that you can never be known completely, and that you only know a portion–a fragment–of each of the people you love around you. I knew Betty as my mom. You know her in another way. I envy that I cannot remember her, in addition to as my mom, in the way you do. So it goes.
This is meant to be a place where those people whose lives Betty touched can share stories, photos, and memories. Because selfishly, I want to know more about her. I imagine you do too.
Feel free to explore the incomplete biography I am assembling, or the gallery of photos of Betty, or the story wall. There is also information about the memorial service, and where donations can be made in Betty’s honor.
Thanks for coming.
